About UACEG

 

In 1941, the Higher Technical School Act was passed by the 25th Ordinary National Assembly in Sofia. This marked the beginning of the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG).

Today, UACEG’s campus spans 14,617 square meters and includes classrooms, computer rooms, and labs, offering 5,923 study spaces. There are 32 computer labs equipped with professional software, totaling 2,455 square meters.

UACEG also provides accommodation for students in over 900 rooms within the Studentski Grad District.

 The university is home to 372 full-time teachers, including 45 professors, 106 associate professors, 129 chief assistant professors, 68 assistant professors, and 22 senior lecturers. Among them, 286 hold a PhD, and two have the ScD degree.

Faculty of Geodesy

The Faculty has five departments:

  • Geodesy;
  • Surveying and Geoinformatics;
  • Applied Geodesy;
  • Photogrammetry and Cartography;
  • Sustainable Land Use and Property Management.

MASTER’S PROGRAMME IN GEODESY:

According to the adopted curriculum for the Geodesy Programme at the Faculty of Geodesy, the training takes place in 10 semesters. From the first to the eighth semester including:

-> fundamental and general theoretical training in basic and profiling subjects;

-> the ninth semester provides specialized training in six specializations;

-> the tenth semester provides for the development and defense of a master’s thesis;

There are specializations in the following areas:

  • Geodesy;
  • GIS;
  • Applied Geodesy;
  • Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing;
  • Cadastre and Property Management;
  • Cartography and GIS.

Graduates of the Geodesy Programme can continue their studies in four accredited doctoral programs:

  • General, Higher and Applied Geodesy;
  • Cadastral and Geoinformation Systems, Cartography and GIS;
  • Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing;
  • Land Use Planning and Conservation of Agricultural Lands (incl. Property Management).

BACHELOR’S PROGRAMME IN LAND USE PLANNING AND PROPERTY MANAGEMENT:

The Land Use Planning and Property Management Programme is new in Bulgaria and is offered exclusively by the Faculty of Geodesy in UACEG. Graduates are granted a bachelor’s degree after a four-year full-time course of study.

MASTER’S PROGRAMME IN MANAGEMENT OF EUROPEAN INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS:

The program is offered exclusively by the Faculty of Geodesy in UASEG. It is a three-semester part-time program, including two study semesters and one thesis semester.

Field training

During the studies, field trainings are carried out in the following disciplines:

  • Surveying Part 1;
  • Surveying Part 2;
  • Geodesy;
  • Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing;
  • Applied Geodesy;
  • GNSS;
  • Real Estate Appraisal.

Students learn to work in teams and defend their work before committees, which helps them in their future realization.
